The project is for two residential buildings for an old garage lot.
The buildings designed occupy two perpendicular sections of the same block. The ground floors of the two buildings are designated for commercial use and meet at the interior of the block.
In the Avenidas Novas area in Lisbon, most buildings exhibit design elements such as façade symmetry, window patterns, small balconies and demarcation of ground floors. The project attempts to apply these characteristics in a contemporary perspective, maintaining height levels and keeping façade unity.
Despite their contemporary character, the materials used – exposed concrete, laminated glass panes, micro-perforated metal sheeting and molded façade panels – work well with the color and simplicity of elements giving the set a sense of harmony.
