The location of the Vodafone building on Av. da Boavista was to act as an exception to the continuous line of buildings.
The proposal is that of an element which stands out thanks to its simplicity, shine and a symbiosis of elements which correspond to the strong image of the company. It is the multi-purpose quality of a structure which closes itself off from the road without ignoring it and which brings into it the human scale which was missing in Avenida da Boavista.
The building changes its appearance during the day: it offers the neutrality of a shade of amber which is guaranteed by the skin which is structured in canvases which do not fully reveal its interior. The large opaque mass emphasises the entrance which is made up of a large spaced doorway which leads to the interior while making use of a green space which moves away from the visual noise and sounds of the avenue and ends in a shop.
During the night another object appears, shiny with a clear corporate communication. The exterior skin reveals the image printed on shade density canvas, located in the interior, through an incorporated lighting system which guarantees transparency.
The facades are made up of a ventilation space formed by glass and ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) tensioned canvas.
