The former factory complex is located at one end of the city, next to the railway station on which its operations depended, and after the re-structuring is a contemporary cultural centre associated to a space for the revitalisation of local crafts.
We sought to create a visitor’s route which would unite the building. Therefore we recovered the logical pre-existence of raised passages which connect the various buildings preserving the fluidity of the surrounding exterior space which operates as a complement to the interior cultural dynamism.
The intervention, which included the recuperation of what already existed and the integration of a new building within the grounds, together with the improvement of the exterior space, can by understood by the materials and language used. The subtlety of the introduction of new elements seeks to preserve the collective memory of those who used this space, whose history is mixed with that of the city itself.
