Vale das Sobreiras Hotel is a tourist facility that values the rural context where it belongs and takes it has a theme. Therefore, one of its main concerns is the site’s preservation and the attempt of making the most out of it. Besides, it has the objective of creating, in a simple and contemporary ambiance, a comfortable and quite place for the countryside’s enjoyment.
The simplicity guided the intervention to be:
- as least invasive as possible. We chose to break the construction in various volumes that are supported by structural elements. These volumes orientation is conceived to take advantage of the most favorable sun exposure and the best views.
- the most absorbent as possible of the surroundings, therefore the interior spaces are opened to the outside and are extended to outdoor areas.
The hotel comprises seven volumes – spread by an only floor, including a public area, a staff area and the rooms.
The volumetric composition was based on a combination of a module that resembles the traditional image of a house – a rectangular plan with a sloping roof – hereby represented by a pure prism.
This module has various size versions and is connected by an outdoor path.
